Saku Koivu of the Habs was signed by the Ducks this past week, after being captain for nearly ten years. Jack Todd, writing for the Montreal Gazette, said it best: “to our eternal credit that some of us were able to recognize what a rare individual Koivu is and to celebrate with him his greatest triumph, the return from cancer.” Koivu overcame non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and returned to the ice a mere seven months after being diagnosed in 2001. “This city, Saku, will never be the quite same without you.”
